Our mission is to provide a safe home for youth to break free from life controlling habits, but especially abuse. Swaziland suffers an extremely high rate of abuse. More and more reports are surging in on girls being sexually and physically abused. Transactional sex is a survival technique used by many minors who are double orphans. Women are suffering serious attacks of abuse. Swaziland needs a place of hidden refuge, for girls and women. Added to this fact, Swaziland suffers a very high percentage of alcoholism and marijuana abuse. The extended family network continues to strain and break, no longer catching as many of the children that need attention. This happens for many reasons, one of which is the direct consequences of HIV and AIDS. More and more children are growing up without a mentor, a protector, a provider and/or parents. The result is a growth in younger and younger youth experimenting more and more with alcohol, solvents, hard drugs and sexual relationships outside of marriage. They are looking for love and acceptance in the wrong places. |
